Losing A Parent

Children who experience parental loss are at a higher risk for many negative outcomes including mental issues eg depression anxiety somatic complaints post-traumatic stress symptoms shorter schooling less academic success lower self-esteem 5 and more sexual risk behaviors 6.
Losing a parent. For instance courage is not innate. Ideally when parents live their lives through to old age an individual has time to prepare for the loss. The bond between a parent and their child is unlike any other in the world.
Losing a parent sucks and you have every right to feel mad. Losing a parent is always a major loss. Getting through such a bleak period however proved one thing.
When you have had a loving friendly happy relationship with your parent their passing will create feelings of emotional turmoil and despair. Yet the unstated message is that when a parent is middle-aged or elderly the death is somehow less of a loss than other losses. Of course it was devastating.
The trauma of losing a parent may also function as a desirable difficulty This doesnt imply that losing a parent is desirable It only acknowledges that fact that trauma can make us grow in ways that nothing else can. The psychological effects of losing a mother or a father is also significant. From our first steps to our first stumbles our parents are there with us through all things to offer love support and guidance.
You may be of any age when you suffer the loss of a parent but it will still transform you as a person. I am and always will be a big advocate for letting the people around you know how. We are stronger than we think.
Losing a parent can feel like losing part of yourself. I remember hearing people say this to me and always thinking Okay I get it. Sadness is common after the loss of a parent but its also normal for other feelings to take over.
