Illinois birth records. The Illinois Department of Public Health Division of Vital Records issues 2 types of certified copies of birth certificates both of which are suitable for legal purposes. Statewide registration of births began in 1916 with complete records by 1922. Birth Records are kept by Vital Records Offices or the Winnebago County Clerks Offices which may be run by the Illinois state government or at the local Winnebago County level.

Name index to birth baptism and christening records from the state of Illinois.
